    0.8.1 — patch fixes for the acquisition-test cluster on 0.8.0.

    New behaviours:

    • Matrix Devices retired: the sidebar has a single 'Matrix' destination now (the workspace, not a management screen). Rename + resize the matrix in-place at the top; a second matrix (rare) appears as a tab.
    • Auto-provisioned 64×64 default matrix (MTRX-001) on every new project — Calum shouldn't have to add one before patching.
    • Matrix device creation now auto-seeds its RX/TX io_channels (root cause of 'grid says nothing to patch' on 0.8.0 — the counts were metadata but the channels weren't seeded).
    • New matrix code+name are optional (auto-assign MTRX-NNN + 'Matrix').
    • Matrix screen grid never blanks; empty axes show a placeholder + hint.
    • Delay Matrix auto-previews on mount; 'Solve & save' → 'Save', 'Preview' button removed.

    Under the hood: matrix_device_shape column typo fix (was querying non-existent 'transport' column on devices — even manual Resize failed on 0.8.0).

    Signed by the rotated updater key (pubkey 791398F5A8190457).

    Install: users on a correctly-signed 0.8.0 self-update as normal. Anyone still on a pre-0.8.0 build (or the mis-signed 0.8.0 that shipped 2026-07-10 22:47 before the rotation) must download the direct .exe — the pubkey change can't be crossed by self-update.
